What are Breaks?

Group breaks provide a group of people the opportunity to open boxes by splitting the cost of the product and dividing all cards by teams (ex. 32 teams in the NHL). This is a great way to participate in box breaks at a lower cost.

If you don’t agree with the terms and conditions listed below, please do not proceed to checkout.

How do Group Breaks Work?

First, the number of participants is dependent on the sport. There are 32 teams in the NHL, so we typically offer 32 spots to reduce the cost. However, Imperial Garden may periodically offer 29/30 spots and combine four to five lesser-desired / lower-value teams together to increase the odds of those spots receiving card(s).

We will either:

set a designated number of times we will random prior to the break
use the random.org dice
use real life dice

to determine how many times we will random the list for each break.

We will note the break format and style prior to breaking, such as: random team, division breaks, team select, random HIT draft, First Name or Last Name random pairings.

Everyone in the break will be randomized <x> times to determine their TEAM selection order. The value of <x> will be determined by a dice roll. If we roll a one, we will re-roll the dice and add the one to the next roll.

example: first roll is a ONE, second roll is a FOUR. Total random will be FIVE.

BREAK RULES

In the event of a multi-player card featuring two different teams, each team will be entered into Random.org three times and randomized three times. The team on top after the final random will receive the multi-player card.

FOR DUAL SHIELD CARDS OR ANY MULTI-TEAM HIT WITH AN APPROXIMATE VALUE OF $1000+ WE WILL NOT RANDOM THE CARD. BOTH PARTIES MAY DISCUSS A DEAL IF THEY WISH TO SELL AND SPLIT. IF BOTH PARTIES AGREE TO RANDOM, WE WILL SCHEDULE A DATE AND TIME DURING THE NEXT LIVE BROADCAST TO COMPLETE THE RANDOM WHILE BOTH PARTIES ARE PRESENT.

In addition, if a card features a player who played for two teams in the same season, it will go to the TEAM NAME TITLE SHOWN ON THE FRONT & BACK of the card.

example: A Jordan Staal card shows him wearing a Penguins uniform, but the front and back of the card display the CAROLINA HURRICANES logo/team name. The card WOULD GO TO THE CAROLINA HURRICANES based on the TEAM NAME TITLE shown on the card. If no team/logo is shown, it will go to the player’s current team as of the product release date.

Relocated team hits will go to the current NHL franchise in existence.

example: OLD Winnipeg Jets franchise → Phoenix Coyotes / UTAH MAMMOTH. Minnesota North Stars → Dallas Stars. Quebec Nordiques → Colorado Avalanche. Hartford Whalers → Carolina Hurricanes. Atlanta Thrashers → NEW Winnipeg Jets franchise. etc.

For NHL All-Star uniformed player cards pulled, they will go to the player’s current NHL team featured. If a present player like Wayne Gretzky is pulled and we cannot identify the NHL team logo (shoulder badge/helmet/jersey) or the All-Star year represented, it will go to the team he played the most regular-season games for. If there is a tie in regular-season games played between two teams, it will be determined by overtime games via NHL.com stats.

example: In 11-12 UD THE CUP, Wayne Gretzky has a scripted swatches card featuring him in an All-Star uniform stating 1993 NHL All-Star Game in Montreal. With the All-Star year indicated, it would be awarded to the Los Angeles Kings, as that was his NHL team at the time.

If a card is pulled of a professional athlete who has NEVER played in the NHL, all teams in the break will be randomized determined dice roll at start of the break and the team on top after the final random will receive the hit.

example: If a Cassie Campbell autograph is pulled from a set, since she has never played in the NHL, ALL NHL TEAMS in the break will be randomized and the team on top will receive the card. Another example: if a Rory McIlroy Cup Tribute card is pulled, it will be randomized between all NHL teams, as he has NEVER played in the NHL.

Special Subset Determination:

Upper Deck 17-18 and 18-19 Cup Card PRINT PLATE ERRORS: Upper Deck released many print plates with incorrect player names on them. The Print Plate will be awarded to the PLAYER – TEAM depicted on the physical Print Plate Card, not the player name on the card.

25-26 SP GAME USED 4 NATIONS Player Team Changes. The 4 Nations uniform team hits will go to the player’s team as of February 12, 2025 (tournament date). Examples: Mikko Rantanen - Carolina Hurricanes, Brad Marchand - Boston Bruins, Chris Kreider - New York Rangers, Mitch Marner - Toronto Maple Leafs, Mikael Granlund - Dallas Stars, Brock Nelson - New York Islanders.

All Wild and Roman Numerical Rookie Redemption Cards will be randomized between everyone at the determined dice roll at start of the break, until a Checklist is revealed from Upper Deck on the players/teams.

If a GOLDEN TICKET / RELIC DRAFT FEATURING FOUR PRINCESS CUT DIAMONDS is pulled, will be RANDOMIZED between the 25 QUAD Rookies on the Black Diamond Checklist!

Don Cherry’s National Treasure Choice Subset will go to the players current team shown as Don Cherry is listed a commentator and doesn’t have a team he’s representing.

UD CHRONOLOGY TIME CAPSULES and ICE FROZEN IN TIME will not be ripped in breaks & are mailed out to the team/player on the front of the card.

What Happens if no Players' get pulled for my team(s)?

Each participant is NOT guaranteed to receive a card and/or equal dollar value by joining a group/box break. There is a chance a group break will not yield any cards for a participant/team. There is also a chance a participant may receive one or multiple cards.

For participants in our WEBSITE BREAK who do not receive a card from a group break, you will be sent a card or pack (not guaranteed to be equal value) unless otherwise stated.

By purchasing a team or spot in a group break, you are acknowledging you understand you may not receive a card or the return of the full value of the purchased price.
